Didja Notice?

The captain of the yacht remarks to Gold that the lore that a ship's captain can marry people at sea is a common misconception, he had to plow through a lot of paperwork to arrange that privilege. This is true. Despite the common lore, in most countries, a ship's captain cannot marry a couple unless they are a justice of the peace, etc. just as on land. Some countries make an exception if one or both members of the marriage are in imminent danger of death on the sea, then the captain might be able to marry them, so the survivor will have legal privileges regarding the other's body or estate.
