Sapphire & Steel
Episode Studies
Like us on Facebook, where you'll see notifications every time a new study or review is posted on PopApostle!

I will be presenting my studies relating to the Sapphire & Steel TV series, comic strips, audio adventures, and any further such stories as may come to my notice, featuring commentary, sound bits of memorable dialog, screen grabs and my own musings.

I am continuing to use the term "episode" here as I have elsewhere on PopApostle, as a separable piece in the continuous narrative of a larger story, whether it be television episode or other media.

Sapphire & Steel aired a total of six serialized stories and were written without titles. The British home video releases refer to each serial as simply "Assignment" or "Adventure" I-VI. At some point, many fans started using names for each serial in order to make them easier to identify in discussions. I have used both the Assignment number and the fan title of each serial for these studies.

The series itself was conceived by creator Peter J. Hammond under the working title The Time Menders.

Each episode began with the curious preamble, "All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available: Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel. Sapphire and Steel have been assigned."

Opening preamble: Sapphire-and-Steel-have-been-assigned.mp3
